Privacy Policy

AdClipper ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users download publicly available content from the Facebook Ad Library. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

AdClipper is designed with privacy as a default. We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the extension.

• Usage counter — a number stored locally in your Chrome profile (via chrome.storage.sync) that tracks how many downloads you have used this month. This data never leaves your device or Chrome account.
• License key — if you purchase a Pro license, your license key and associated email address are stored in chrome.storage.sync so your Pro status persists across devices. This data is only sent to our license validation server to verify your subscription status.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your browsing history.
• We do not collect, store, or transmit the ads or media you download.
• We do not collect any personally identifiable information beyond what you provide when purchasing a license (handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy).
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party scripts of any kind.
• We do not sell your data. Ever.

3. License Validation

When you activate or validate a Pro license key, we send that key to our server (hosted on Vercel) which forwards it to Lemon Squeezy's API solely to verify validity. We store:

• Your license key (in your own Chrome storage)
• The email associated with your purchase (received from Lemon Squeezy, stored in your Chrome storage)
• The timestamp of the last validation (to avoid unnecessary checks)

No data from this process is logged or retained on our servers.

4. Permissions Explained

• downloads — required to save files to your computer.
• storage — required to save your usage count and license key locally.
• clipboardWrite — required to copy ad copy text to your clipboard when you click "Copy text".
• Host permission (facebook.com, fbcdn.net) — required to detect ads on the Facebook Ad Library page and access media URLs served by Facebook's CDN.

5. Third-Party Services

• Lemon Squeezy — processes payments and manages license keys. Their privacy policy applies to purchase data.
• Vercel — hosts our license validation API endpoint. No user data is stored on Vercel servers.

6. Data Retention

All data stored by AdClipper lives in your Chrome browser's storage. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension. We have no server-side records of your usage.

7. Children's Privacy

AdClipper is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
